The Slasher genre is well established by movies like Friday the 13th, Scream and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's becoming popular in games too since there's nothing more terrifying than a virtual psychopath trying to rip you apart. Let's have a look at five amazing horror slashers and remember that some of these games are still in production!
5. Until Dawn – Supermassive Games
Let's kick off this list with Until Dawn, the horror slasher that is coming out this month for the Playstation 4. It follows the basic slasher formula: eight teenagers are stuck in a cabin with a serial killer hunting them down. Of course this all takes place on the anniversary of the death of their friend. That's going to be one terrifying night!
4. Power Drill Massacre – Puppet Combo
After Slender and Five Nights at Freddy's, Power Drill Massacre is once again a game about somebody that's chasing you. But this psychopath wants to plow his power drill into your skull. Abandoned mansions in the woods are generally not a good location to seek refuge when your hiking trip turns south. Do I hear a power drill in the distance?
3. Slasher Vol 1.: Summer Camp – Crystal Lake Entertainment
Teenagers going on a trip are a classic trope in slashers movies. In Slasher Volume One: Summer Camp you and some friends play as these teenagers and one of you plays as the killer. The creators call this game a love letter to the Friday the 13th film series and they even got the actor that played Jason Voorhees to play the killer in the game.
2. Project Scissors: Nightcry – Playism Games
Project Scissors: Nightcry is being made by the team known for the Clocktower games. In this third person slasher game passengers on a boat are being haunted by a supernatural monster called the Scissorwalker. Expect multiple story lines, multiple outcomes and lots of blood in this game! And remember it's pretty hard to get off a ship which makes the whole thing even more terrifying.
1. Last Year – James Matthew Wearing
In Last Year you'll experience the nightmare together as you and 5 friends struggle to survive against one player that's playing as the Killer. To survive you need to complete a series of objectives to get the escape truck started. As the killer you obviously need to kill them all by luring, tricking and murdering them brutally. Interesting detail in this game is that it has different classes like scout, tank and medic. We're getting some heavy Left 4 Dead vibes from it and that's pretty enticing!

Cruelty
Cruelty is indifference to suffering, and even pleasure in inflicting it. Sadism can also be related to this form of action or concept. Cruel ways of inflicting suffering may involve violence, but affirmative violence is not necessary for an act to be cruel. For example, if a person is drowning and begging for help, and another person is able to help, but merely watches with disinterest or perhaps mischievous amusement, that person is being cruel — rather than violent.

Bertrand Russell stated that "the infliction of cruelty with a good conscience is a delight to moralists. That is why they invented Hell."Gilbert K. Usage in law

5. Until Dawn – Supermassive Games
Let's kick off this list with Until Dawn, the horror slasher that is coming out this month for the Playstation 4. It follows the basic slasher formula: eight teenagers are stuck in a cabin with a serial killer hunting them down. Of course this all takes place on the anniversary of the death of their friend. 4. Power Drill Massacre – Puppet Combo
After Slender and Five Nights at Freddy's, Power Drill Massacre is once again a game about somebody that's chasing you. But this psychopath wants to plow his power drill into your skull. Abandoned mansions in the woods are generally not a good location to seek refuge when your hiking trip turns south. Do I hear a power drill in the distance?
3. Slasher Vol 1.: Summer Camp – Crystal Lake Entertainment
Teenagers going on a trip are a classic trope in slashers movies. In Slasher Volume One: Summer Camp you and some friends play as these teenagers and one of you plays as the killer. The creators call this game a love letter to the Friday the 13th film series and they even got the actor that played Jason Voorhees to play the killer in the game.
2. Project Scissors: Nightcry – Playism Games
Project Scissors: Nightcry is being made by the team known for the Clocktower games. In this third person slasher game passengers on a boat are being haunted by a supernatural monster called the Scissorwalker. Expect multiple story lines, multiple outcomes and lots of blood in this game! And remember it's pretty hard to get off a ship which makes the whole thing even more terrifying.
1. Last Year – James Matthew Wearing
In Last Year you'll experience the nightmare together as you and 5 friends struggle to survive against one player that's playing as the Killer. To survive you need to complete a series of objectives to get the escape truck started. As the killer you obviously need to kill them all by luring, tricking and murdering them brutally. Interesting detail in this game is that it has different classes like scout, tank and medic. We're getting some heavy Left 4 Dead vibes from it and that's pretty enticing!
